After discussions with BAGSD IPO Senior Panel members and those competitors that qualified for the FCI world championships 2010, it was agreed to forfeit the BAGSD IPO places to allow the GSDL to send a full FCI team for 2010 only. The reasons being that the qualified competitors felt their current dogs were too young and inexperienced for such a high profile World Event. All at BAGSD IPO wish those successful competitors from GSDL the best of luck at these 2010 championships. Normal qualification criteria will remain for FCI & WUSV world championships for 2011 or until further notice.
27 March 2010
On Saturday 17th April 2010 Washington VPG branch will host a helper and tracklayer licensing event, starting at 9.30am.
The event is open to ALL BAGSD members who are interested in helper work & tracklaying, even those who wish to go through the training aspect of the license without sitting the test.
All helpers should make every effort to attend the event and be sure that their BAGSD membership is current.
Those helpers who gained their license within the last 6 months will not be required for re-license but their attendance is advised for continued education.
Those helpers who have not attended a license event in the last 12 months will lose their license and right to perfrom helper work at BAGSD events if they do not attend this event!
Helpers should try in all cases to bring at least 1 dog that can be used during the event.
Helpers will be required to show an adequate level of fitness, have an excellent knowledge of the rules of competition protection work and will be open to education on the style of helper work that the BAGSD wishes to promote at their events.
Tracklayers will be required to show that they have a knowledge of the rules relating to the tracking section of the competition rules and will be required to lay a series of tracks and then be able to acurately direct a judge around those tracks.
As from this event any newly licensed Grade A helpers and track layers will be required to perform at a minimum of 4 events before he/she can be considered for major events
Helpers and tracklayers will be issued with a work book which they be required to present to the judge at all events they work at so that the judges comments can be recorded for future use at BAGSD licensing events.
Please note; ONLY BAGSD licensed helpers & tracklayers may be used in BAGSD events unless by express prior permission of the VPG Panel.

27 February 2010
In December 2009 in response to GSDL-WDB claims that certain UK resident judges had gained the status of “approved to officiate in the sport by the WUSV” and that titles gained under judges who had not attended a course given by Guenther Diegel on 23rd January 2008 would not be recognized by the GSDL-WDB, the BAGSD VPG sought clarification of this issue from the WUSV.
The response from the WUSV Head Office is outlined below:
“Dear Sir
A WUSV judge is not existing at the moment. The WUSV works to build a WUSV judge. At the moment there's only a possibility to get SV judge. A Person who wants to get a SV judge has to be judge in its own country and then the person has to make the complete training period in the SV in German language (Richterordnung des SV: ) The results of these judges are accepted by the SV and alle WUSV countries.
Another possibility is to be written on the judge list as a judge from abroad, but is possilibity is suspent.
Very important is, that you send us the conditions how to become a judge for working dogs in your country.
Mit freundlichen Grulien/Best regards Clemens Lux

- Generalsekretariat –“
Indeed the BAGSD VPG has recently learnt the course referred to by the GSDL-WDB given by Guenther Diegel in fact only allows the candidates to obtain the title of “Foreign SV Judge” and that this title is NOT retained by the candidate after 12 months of sitting the course as the title is awarded only after the candidate sits the course ANNUALLY!
The BAGSD VPG vehemently opposes the GSDL-WDB stance on its judges, as titles awarded by the BAGSDS judges to members have repeatedly been accepted by other WUSV member organisations in other countries.
Furthermore, the BAGSD regularly send its’ judges to both the WUSV & FCI judge’s conferences whose aim is to ensure that all judges from all member nations officiate in a similar manner!

It can´t be, that competitors of WUSV member clubs can´t take part on shows or trials because their clubs have not much members.
Please read § 12 Duties of the member Associations!

Dear Members,
First of all I would like to thank the VPG Branch representatives for voting me in as Interim VPG Chairman and I must apologise for not making these thanks earlier. As you all know September/October is a very time busy in VPG.
Let me just say, as Chairman, that I am here for ALL the membership and if anyone has a question please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone or email or at any VPG event; the last thing we want is Chinese Whispers. Even if you are not a BAGSDS member and I can help with any query please contact me.
The GSDL pulled out of joint selection trials on the 8th August, 2007 and since that date we have tried to enter into meaningful diaglogue with them but to no avail.
At the WUSV meeting in Krefeld, following the WUSV World Championships, it was said of countries where there are two member clubs that so long as each club has a selection process to decide team members that was sufficient and the WUSV does not have a problem with the clubs alternating, i.e. 3 members one year and 2 members the next year.
In closing, I would urge all members to refrain from posting on pro-board sites and entering into pointless debate with people who are trying to widen the divide between the two organisations.
STUART NYE
BAGSD VPG CHAIRMAN
